I am passionate about marriage! The day you make that precious vow, is a day of CELEBRATION! It is my honor to beautifully capture that day so that when you look at your photos, you are filled with joy and pride as you remember the first time you said I do, and how much you've grown together since.
Our story began in 2008 when we were freshman at Northwestern College in St. Paul, however, there were definitely no sparks when we first met. We actually drove one another nuts with our opposite personalities so it wasn’t quite the love at first sight. I was the “optimist” and he was the “realist” so those two personalities tended to clash quite a bit.
However, we had the same group of friends who would spend countless hours together. From going on mission trips to New Orleans to using cardboard boxes to sled down Minnesota snowy hills to road tripping to beautiful Montana, we always had such a blast together with this group of friends.
It was evident to the group of friends that Jimmy and I were very opposite as we often got in discussions and disagreements about life. However, I think deep down, we both mutually appreciated how one another pushed and challenged each other’s strong stances.
No one saw it coming but after a couple of years of being really good friends, Jimmy started to spend more one-on-one time with me. I didn’t think much of it but I appreciated how he initiated and lead the conversation. I remember saying to my roommate that I wanted to marry a guy LIKE Jimmy Buehler, BUT NOT Jimmy Buehler. Welp, the Lord had other plans!
October 16th, 2009 we officially started dating. Nine months later we were engaged. And then three months later we were married on October 17th, 2010 at the chapel at Northwestern College.
So from our first date to our wedding date was just one year and one day! We had such an established and deep friendship that once we started dating, our relationship moved along quickly and we loved this!
After two years of marriage, we were about to give birth to our first child and I thought I should learn how to use a camera so I could have photos of our son. Jimmy actually photographed some in college so he had a basic DSLR camera.
I grabbed his camera and I began teaching myself how to use it. From reading manuals to watching youtube videos to studying light, I immersed myself in learning all things photography and fell in love with the creative aspect of it.
We are big believers in celebrating your marriage on your wedding day as well making it a point to celebrate the following years and decades of marriage to come!
Just this past year we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary by getting all dressed up with our closest friends and family and having an amazing anniversary party filled with good food, dancing and so much fun! It was an absolute blast!
One of my biggest joys of capturing your wedding day is getting to celebrate in your commitment to one another. Marriage is a beautiful thing that is so valued and is worth being celebrated! It is my goal to show the beauty of marriage and the joys of your wedding day through timeless and gorgeous photos that you will be able to share with your children and grandchildren.
